What will my membership cost?

Your AskHoag membership is free through Dec 31, 2026. Starting Jan 1, 2027, membership is $49 a month, and we’ll let you know before anything changes. AskHoag is only available to Commercial PPO insurance policy holders.

Will my insurance be billed?

Your AskHoag membership isn’t billed to insurance. Care that follows, like visits, imaging, labs and prescriptions, is billed to your insurance as usual, including any copays or deductibles. That includes video visits, and care plans from a Hoag nurse practitioner that result in a prescription, imaging or lab order.

Do I need a referral?

Not to message your care team, and not for a specialist’s opinion. If a specialist recommends an in-person visit, AskHoag handles the referral and any insurance approval for you.

Will my specialist visit happen sooner?

The visit still depends on the specialist’s calendar. What AskHoag removes is the chain of appointments it usually takes to learn which specialist you need, and you arrive with a plan already in place.

Is this just an AI chatbot?

No. AI helps organize your case, but a Hoag nurse practitioner, signed by name, approves every answer and can order tests or bring in a Hoag specialist. A chatbot can tell you what it might be. AskHoag gets you to someone who can do something about it.

Does this replace my primary care doctor?

No. Your doctor stays your doctor, and everything that happens in AskHoag is in the record they see.

Is AskHoag for emergencies?

No. For chest pain, trouble breathing, a serious injury or anything that feels like an emergency, call 911.
